Peace Man :-)

All coursework in and second year of uni all finished. It has gone so fast. The hand in date coincided with a hippy themed party. I went down to the charity shop in Stoke and piked up this sexy number for a bargain at 2.99!!! It was a very comfy fit aswell! Accessorised with my rope from my dressing gown and some flowers. Had a few pre-drinks at Becky's house then off to the LRV. Was a very colourful night and in true hippy style I danced the night away! Don't remember a lot of it but great fun!

Cookies, cowgirls and crazyness.

So Calums party was a huge success and so was the costume after I got some fresh batteries. Didn't want a deflating horse halfway through the night. As I'd previously blogged the plan was to drop the horse off at my house before going to the club. This however wasn't a very popular decision with my friends and they persuaded me to take it with me! It had an extremely good reaction... I had at least 6 or 7 different people approach me asking to take a picture. I felt like a celebrity for the night. I did however take it off for good when it was time for the first toilet break and put it in the cloak room.

This Wednesday another birthday and another new theme... Hippies! I am sure to have a lot of fun in the charity shops tomorrow.

C is for....

C is for.... Calum and Cowgirls and chickens! Another birthday and another great fancy dress theme. It is my friend Calum's birthday and his chosen theme is anything beginning with the letter C. So I have brought out my favorite costume... cowgirl including the inflatable horse! This always get an awesome reaction off people however it can be a bit awkward when sitting down.

The night is beginning at his house for some pre-drinks and see all the other awesome ideas... my housemate is being a cigarette! Then off to our local student night out at the LRV called Gobble. God nos why its called that! Think I may have to put the horse to bed before I leave for the club... otherwise it could end in disaster!

OAP turns 20.

Back to one of my favorite dress ups and what better occasion than my best friend Laura Cope's 20th birthday. The day before a large group of us went to the charity shops in Leeds to get some extra vintage items. The more floral the better, my friend Kelly had also raided the car boots and managed to get some walking sticks. This was definitely sure to be a comfy night... slippers, stockings and a nice warm cardigan. Even didn't have to do my hair as most of us put curlers in.

As normal I went the extra mile and made a bus pass that had my I.D. in it and a decanter to drink out of. All of us found it was a really easy role to get in to character! After a few Sherry's and Brandy's later it was time to hit the town. We got quite a few funny looks from other people and some jokes off the bouncers but altogether and awesome night.

Kigu's go A-list

Kigus are Japanese animal suits. I found them purely by browsing through a magazine and it was in the great buys section. Although made in Japan there is a website that has them shipped over. The types of animals they stock change from month to month. It's two guys who started the site in their quest to find a new, unique and not rip off fancy dress.
The picture above is of Me, my friend Kelly and My housemate Zach. This was just before we went for a drivethru KFC! The guy behind the window was not impressed.

The profile of these costumes is growing rappidly due to celebraties wearing them.

Yeah.... its a offically cool because Lily Allen has got in on the action. My housemate was very happy when I showed him he shared an item of clothing with Lily. No supprise that she is wearing it as they are incredably comfortable. Even though I brought my Kangaroo for my birthday party, I often put it on like a snuggle suit to keep me warm.

Alex Turner from the Artic Monkeys is also sporting the same lizard suit.

Liam "Rory" Clewlow from Enter Shikari also wears the lizard... very popular!
DJ Rob da Bank has had a Kigu made especially for him. Both on the website and facebook page they hold votes to decide the next animal they get in.

So basically what I'm saying is the Kigu is a wardrobe must have! Wheather your feeling under the weather and wanting to curl up in a ball or you fancy a night out on the town. If I could afford it I would have all of them.

Can I have your jacket please?

Last but by no means least... Rubix cube night. What is that I hear you say, well basically you start the night with a different item of clothing of each colour. By the end of the night the aim is to be all in one colour. As you can see I was aiming to be blue. Not doing very well though. This is where the Primark shopping comes in handy, as you don't really mind loosing a few quids worth of clothes. The tie I am wearing was a gift from some drunken random man.

Everyone is usually really gutted to be going home so end up getting that little bit more wasted. Our livers however are definitely not! It's also time for that dreaded bus journey home. I will be spending the majority of it horizontal on the floor of the bus asleep!

Kangaroo spotted in Salou.

With all of Lacrosse finished for the holiday it was time for celebration. Slightly different to all the other nights as all the sports teams in Salou were going to a mega club in the middle of nowhere. The theme this night was tour shirts. This means you have to wear your shirts with your chosen nickname on the back... mine was Crap Bag. Don't ask it's a long and boring story.

Anyway, I couldn't possibly do tour shirts, far too boring so i was a kangaroo! Definitely a good choice as the club had a massive outside area for me to bounce around! I was not the only animals, there was a massive pond that ran throughout with fish in it. Of course as you can imagine drunk people, water and fish don't mix very well. We had people being pushed in and some trying to catch fish with their hands!

Luckily on this occasion we risked it for a biscuit and didn't get pushed in!

Get your bus passes out.

After a hard day of playing Lacrosse in the sun it was time for another night out! When I say hard day this is a slight exaggeration. Most of the team didn't manage to make breakfast... including myself, and only just stumbled on the coach in time. The weather was really hot and I spent most of it on the side lines feeling sorry for myself and getting terrible sunglasses tan marks! The matches are played at a stadium and some of the teams carry on the fancy dress when playing.

When getting back to the hotel we went down to dinner... if u can even call it that. More like slops! OAP's couldn't possibly go out on an empty stomach though!

Our first stop was the famous fish bowl bar, where all drinks as I'm sure you can guess are served in a fish bowl. Its literally pure alcohol that gets poured in! The picture above is our two captains Bertie and Elle. Elle managed to take a fish bowl and decided she wanted a bum like Beyonce. Bertie had lost her voice so at the beginning of the night everybody wrote a phrase and these were the only things she could say. She made very good use out of this one!

Salou gets a hit by army of Geeks... Staffs style!

The 26 hour coach journey was very, very, very long. There was lots of excitement... People being left on the Ferry, UV raves and angry French bus drivers. After all that time on the coach there is no better way to recover than Sangria and hit the town. It was time for the geeks to hit Salou, braces and all. Tour tradition is that all freshers are slaves and have to obey the oldies. So it was my year to get my revenge. As we were leaving the hotel our tour virgins were taped together. This video is of Sian, Lauren and Kerry attempting badly to walk!

Extremely priceless, love how our Captain Bertie is helping them with her drum beat. She managed to keep on to that all night and it made an appearance throughout the week. What a legend.

Tour Tour Tour

I am a very keen lacrosse player and every year we go on tour to Salou (spain). Basically its a big piss up with fancy dress everywhere and a bit of lacrosse thrown in! A few weeks before tour we are given the fancy dress themes for each night and then everybody flocks to Primark. Last year they were, tight 'n' bright, cavemen and emergency services. As im sure u can tell the pic above is cavemen/women.
So my bag is packed along with my camera of course and in less than 5 hrs I will b on the 26hr coach trip 2 Salou. See u all wen i get bak... hopefully a little bit browner :-).

Kangaroo sports presenter

Charity + Fancy dress= win!!! So I got my role for news day and I was sports presenter... this was perfect as I wanted to raise a bit of cash for sport relief. Also a great idea for a story to cover. Me and my camera woman Amy went down to Sainsburys to view some of the T-shirts and other accessories. We spoke to a woman called Karen who was a bit of a legend. I say that because while we were editing we stopped it at a very unflattering moment for her. She was trying to stick her tongue out at her colleague however didn't realise we were already filming. We had a lot of fun rewinding and playing in the studio. She also only took 1 take... what a professional. The video of the package is above and is defiantly worth a watch if you want a giggle.

Why... Fancy Dress?

Students and Fancy Dress go together like peas and carrots. Any excuse to throw on a wig armed with a snakebite and the night is sure to be a winner! I am part of a lacrosse team so therefore that means plenty of socials often with a theme. Its always a better night and there is certainly sure to be plenty more photo evidence when everyone is dressed up. I love fancy dress and if I had my way every day would be fancy dress. Last Friday I was due to go out with my course mates and wanted to show off my knew outfit for no particular reason just that I fancied it....
